Background: The role of adjuvant therapy in resected periampullary adenocarcinomas is equivocal due to contrasting data and limited prospective trials.

Methods: The Multicentre Indian Pancreatic & Periampullary Adenocarcinoma Project (MIPPAP), included data from 8 institutions across India. Of the 1679 pancreatic resections, 736 patients with T3/T4 and/or Node positive adenocarcinomas (considered as high risk for recurrence) were included for analysis.

Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL), a subtype of peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), is associated with unique clinical, morphological, and immunohistochemical features. The peripheral circulation might show presence of an occasional reactive plasma cell but significant plasmacytosis masquerading as plasma cell leukemia is rare. We report a case of AITL in a 42-year-old male, who presented with two-month history of generalized lymphadenopathy.

Mycosis fungoides is the major form of primary cutaneous T cell lymphoma. Its staging is based on the percentage of body surface involvement and biopsy-proven extra cutaneous nodal or visceral involvement. Literature shows F-18 FDG accumulation in disease-involved nodes and viscera with non-specific uptake due to co-existing inflammation limits its specificity.

Article Synopsis
  • Limited data on the presentation and outcomes of surgically treated pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) in India prompted a study involving 288 patients from 8 academic centers from January 2015 to June 2019.
  • The study found an 81% rate of R0 resection and a median overall survival of 45 months, with significant differences in disease-free survival (DFS) based on cancer stage and the presence of perineural invasion (PNI).
  • Overall, the MIPPAP study indicates that the survivals for resectable PDACs in India are comparable to global data, while suggesting that adjuvant radiotherapy may not improve outcomes after complete resection.

Article Synopsis
  • - Most soft tissue sarcomas occur in the extremities, but retroperitoneal sarcomas, although rare, can also develop and may lead to severe symptomatic hypoglycemia.
  • - A case study of a 38-year-old man with retroperitoneal round cell sarcoma and liver metastasis revealed significant symptomatic hypoglycemia, which improved with a combination of therapy and cancer treatment.
  • - This case is notable as it's the first documented instance of hypoglycemia in a younger male with this type of sarcoma, suggesting a need for further research on treatment options and prognosis for high-risk patient groups.
