The Meaning of Friendships in the Mental Health Recovery of Young Adults-A Thematic Analysis.

Friendships are vital for the well-being of young adults, yet their social network is often reduced during episodes of life-disruptive mental distress, such as psychosis. Despite this, our study shows that young adults do either maintain or build friendships during such periods and that these relationships are crucial for recovery in youth. As research on the role of friendships in the recovery journey of this group is limited, this study explores the significance of friendships for young adults engaged in early psychosis interventions to generate insights that can inform mental health recovery practices.

#Skin-Lightening: A content analysis of the most popular videos promoting skin-lightening products on TikTok.

Highly visual and appearance-focused social media often exhibit appearance ideals that center around fairness and whiteness, resulting in the promotion of dangerous over-the-counter skin-lightening products to consumers to achieve such ideals. Our study aims to better understand the skin-lightening claims and products that TikTok users are exposed to on the platform. We conducted a cross-sectional content analysis to examine the top 100 most-viewed videos across the most popular skin-lightening hashtag (#skinlightening) through the TikTok website interface (N = 79) and generated descriptive statistics.

Community Health Workers Bridging the Gap: Connecting Medicaid Members with Providers, Managed Care, and Community-Based Organizations.

Background: Community Health Workers (CHWs) are key to extending health care services, especially to marginalized communities to reduce challenges related to health care access. The study objective was to qualitatively explore the comprehensive role of CHWs in bridging the gap for Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) members' access to health care providers, managed care, and community-based organizations to address health-related social needs (HRSN).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective thematic analysis of narratives developed by CHWs on their role and Medicaid member lives.

Characterizing state-level structural cisheterosexism trajectories using sequence and cluster analysis, 1996-2016, 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., and associations with health status and healthcare outcomes.

Structural cisheterosexism is a root cause of LGBTQ health inequities. Amidst ongoing legal attacks on LGBTQ populations' rights, research is needed to examine changes in policy contexts over time and associated implications for population health and inequities. To address this gap, we constructed state-level structural cisheterosexism trajectories for each U.
