Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the accuracy of experienced surgeons and a machine learning model (ResNet50v2) in predicting patient outcomes from knee replacement radiographs.
  • The model performed better than the surgeons, identifying 71% of patients with poor outcomes and 82% with excellent outcomes, while the surgeons struggled significantly.
  • The findings suggest that there are specific radiographical features linked to poor outcomes that surgeons may not recognize, indicating a need for further research to improve surgical techniques and patient results.

Article Synopsis
  • Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a highly aggressive form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, with about 40% of patients facing treatment-resistant or recurring disease, highlighting the need for better therapies.
  • Researchers developed a new xenograft mouse model using human DLBCL cell lines, which allows for more accurate preclinical studies of the disease.
  • The study found that the human IL6-expressing NSG mice supported significant tumor growth and mirrored the aggressive nature of DLBCL, suggesting their potential as a valuable tool for advancing treatment strategies.

Background & Aims: Bepirovirsen, an antisense oligonucleotide, induces sustained reductions in hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and HBV DNA to below the lower limit of quantification (
Methods: In this phase IIb, multicentre, open-label trial, participants on stable nucleos(t)ide analogue (NA) therapy were randomised 1:1 to bepirovirsen 300 mg once weekly (plus loading dose on Days 4 and 11) for 24 (Arm 1) or 12 (Arm 2) weeks followed by Peg-IFN 180 μg once weekly for up to 24 weeks, with up to 36 weeks follow-up.

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a global issue and can lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is an important marker of HBV infection and HBsAg quantification could be a useful tool in clinical practice. This systematic literature review aimed to explore the association between HBsAg titres and long-term disease outcomes and evaluate the relationship between HBsAg titres, or changes in HBsAg titres, and clinical and treatment characteristics in patients with chronic HBV infection.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examined early outcomes of a new medication, LCPT, compared to the traditional IR TAC in African American kidney transplant patients.
  • The study found that while LCPT led to higher tacrolimus levels shortly after transplant, the overall kidney function and key clinical outcomes after one year were similar to those of IR TAC.
  • The results suggest that LCPT can be safely used as a first-line treatment post-transplant without increasing complications like delayed graft function.
