Background: There are few reported outcomes of treatment of acute cholecystitis incorporating current guidelines for gallbladder dissection techniques and use of percutaneous tube cholecystostomy (PCT). The authors hypothesize PCT allows regression of peritoneal inflammation, but infundibular inflammation is increased at interval cholecystectomy, resulting in greater requirement for advanced dissection techniques.
Methods: Between December 2009 and July 2023, 1222 patients were admitted with acute cholecystitis and ultimately underwent cholecystectomy.
Purpose: To assess the contribution of germline pathogenic variants (PVs) in population-based series of breast cancers and the best strategy to improve detection rates.
Methods: Three cohort studies were utilized, including a hospital-based series identified from new UK mainstream testing criteria (group-1), offering testing to all women (group-2-BReast CAncer [BRCA]-DIRECT), and a Greater Manchester cohort study recruited from the mammography screening population (group-3-Predicting Risk of Cancer at Screening). DNA samples from women with breast cancer were sequenced for PVs in , , and Partner and Localiser of BRCA2 ().
Background: TCF21 (transcription factor 21) is a bHLH (basic helix-loop-helix) protein required for the developmental specification of cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) from epicardial progenitor cells that surround the embryonic heart. In the adult heart, TCF21 is expressed in tissue-resident fibroblasts and is downregulated in response to injury or stimuli leading to myofibroblast differentiation. These findings led to the hypothesis that TCF21 regulates fibroblast differentiation in the adult mammalian heart to affect fibrosis.

Discharge to community care is a transitionary time where nutritional vulnerability could be mitigated with the instigation of targeted nutrition care pathways in ED settings.
Aims And Objectives: This scoping review aimed to establish and describe the level of nutrition care provided to older adults admitted and subsequently discharged from EDs.
Nissen fundoplication (NF) is a common surgical procedure to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease; however, a subset of patients may continue to experience symptoms or develop symptom recurrence despite a successful procedure. This study aims to compare laparoscopic and robotic approaches for treating failed NF and evaluate the outcomes after converting to Toupet fundoplication (TF). We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients who underwent robotic or laparoscopic revision to TF for failed NF between 2016 and 2023.
