Fertility Preservation and Infertility Treatment in Female Surgical Trainees in Alberta: A Survey of Trainee Knowledge, Attitudes, and Needs.

Objectives: This study aimed to describe fertility knowledge and views on family planning and fertility preservation/treatment among female surgical trainees in Alberta.

Methods: A voluntary, anonymous online survey was sent to surgical program coordinators in Alberta to forward to their respective trainees. Participants included surgical trainees from cardiac surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, urology, and vascular surgery.

To Play or Not to Play? Effects of Playmate Familiarity and Social Isolation on Social Play Engagement in Three Laboratory Rat Strains.

Social play is a motivating and rewarding behavior displayed by juveniles of many mammalian species, including humans and rats. Social play is vital to the development of social skills. Autistic children show less social play engagement which may contribute to their impairments in social skills.

Isolation and characterization of Salmonella enterica- and Escherichia coli-specific bacteriophages of the genus Epseptimavirus from wastewater in Minnesota.

Five lytic bacteriophages specific for Salmonella enterica and Escherichia coli were isolated from wastewater in Minnesota. These phages, designated vB_Sal_EH1, vB_Sal_EH2, vB_Sal_EH3, vB_Sal_EH4, and vB_Sal_EH7, were characterized, and their genomes were sequenced. Phylogenetic analysis showed that they grouped within the genus Epseptimavirus, with genome sizes ranging from 108,554 to 115,218 bp.

Greater preservation of SARS-CoV-2 neutralising antibody responses following the ChAdOx1-S (AZD1222) vaccine compared with mRNA vaccines in haematopoietic cell transplant recipients.

Whilst SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines generate high neutralising antibodies (nAb) in most individuals, haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) recipients respond poorly. HSCT/CAR-T treatment ablates existing immune memory, with recipients requiring revaccination analogous to being vaccine naive. An optimal revaccination strategy for this cohort has not been defined.

Standardizing MRI orientation improves reliability of entorhinal and transentorhinal cortical volume measurement.

The current study compared the reliability of manual collateral sulcus depth and entorhinal and transentorhinal cortical volume measurements between native oriented MRI scans versus MRI scans realigned to the hippocampal long axis. Data included 10 participants with two serial 3.0T MRI scans from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative.
