Background: Occipital nerve blocks are commonly used in the treatment of different types of refractory headaches. The procedure is considered safe, and serious complications have rarely been described.

Case Presentation: We report a serious complication of occipital nerve blockade secondary to the penetration of local anesthetic and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs into the posterior fossa in a patient affected by type I Arnold Chiari malformation.

Angiolipomas (ALs) are hamartomas composed of abnormally differentiated vessels and mature adipose tissue. Although they are most commonly found in peripheral tissues, ALs sometimes grow in the spinal epidural space. Intracranial ALs (ICALs) are rare: only seven cases have been reported in the literature.

The authors describe the clinical and biological data of seven patients with anti-Hu antibodies. Six of them displayed a small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC), but no cancer was detected in the 7th patient in spite of an extensive workup. The clinical heterogeneity of the anti-Hu syndrome is emphasized.

Though the role of cerebral ischemia as an etiologic factor for epilepsy is accepted, the effect of seizures on stroke sequelae has received little attention. We describe 10 patients with poststroke partial epileptic seizures that were followed by persistent worsening of the previous neurologic deficit. Of 38 other patients with poststroke seizures who were examined during the same period, eight suffered transient neurologic worsening (Todd's phenomenon).
