Objective: To assess impact of ultrasound guidance (USG) on patient's perception of nerve conduction studies (NCS).

Methods: In this single-center, randomized, sham-controlled, parallel, single-blind trial, we evaluated ultrasound (US) in identifying NCS stimulation site. Consecutive adults (18-80 old) without neuropathy referred for NCS were electronically randomized 1:1 to USG or Sham US.

Gravity is a ubiquitous component of our environment that we have learned to optimally integrate in movement control. Yet, altered gravity conditions arise in numerous applications from space exploration to rehabilitation, thereby pressing the sensorimotor system to adapt. Here, we used a robotic exoskeleton to reproduce the elbow joint-level effects of arbitrary gravity fields ranging from 1g to -1g, passing through Mars- and Moon-like gravities, and tested whether humans can reoptimize their motor patterns accordingly.

The coordinated differentiation of progenitor cells into specialized cell types and their spatial organization into distinct domains is central to embryogenesis. Here, we developed and applied an unbiased spatially resolved single-cell transcriptomics method to identify the genetic programs underlying the emergence of specialized cell types during mouse limb development and their spatial integration. We identify multiple transcription factors whose expression patterns are predominantly associated with cell type specification or spatial position, suggesting two parallel yet highly interconnected regulatory systems.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the effectiveness and safety of two ultrasound-guided techniques for central venous catheterization: the internal jugular vein (IJV) approach and the axillary vein (AV) approach.
  • Results indicate that the IJV approach has a higher overall success rate of 96% compared to 89% for the AV approach, as well as better first puncture success rates and shorter procedure times.
  • Despite both methods being safe with low complication rates, the IJV approach showed slightly higher immediate complications and catheter colonization, with no catheter-related infections reported for the AV approach.

Background: Ultra-low dose computed tomography (ULD-CT) was shown to be a good alternative to digital radiographs in various locations. This study aimed to assess the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of ULD-CT versus digital radiographs in patients consulting for extremity traumas in emergency room.

Methods: Digital radiography and ULD-CT scan were performed in patients consulting at the emergency department (February-August 2018) for extremity traumas.
