Virtues of routine suprahyoid release during tracheal resection and anastomosis in patients with post intubation stenosis.

Postintubation tracheal stenosis is the most common cause of benign tracheal stenosis. Surgical treatment is more challenging in long-segment stenosis. Suprahyoid release can increase tracheal length resected without anastomotic tension in patients with post-intubation tracheal stenosis.

Swallowing Problems after Thyroidectomy.

 Thyroidectomy is a common procedure. Certain swallowing problems could happen after this surgery and affect the quality of life of the patient.  To evaluate swallowing after thyroidectomy in the early and late postoperative periods and to correlate subjective and objective parameters.

Assessment of outcome measures after audiological computer-based auditory training in cochlear implant children.

Objective: To validate the clinical use of acoustic change complex (ACC) as an objective outcome measure of auditory training in Egyptian cochlear implant (CI) children and explore how far electrophysiological measures could be correlated to behavioral measures in assessing training outcome. Also to explore the efficacy of computer-based auditory training programs (CBATP) in the rehabilitation process of CI children.

Methods: Sixty Arabic speaking children participated in the present study.

Oropharyngeal Dysphagia and Diabetes Mellitus: Screening of 200 Type 1 and Type 2 Patients in Cairo, Egypt.

Background: Although diabetes mellitus is a well-researched systemic endocrinal disease, literature is scarce addressing the co-occurrence of oropharyngeal dysphagia with diabetes.

Objective: The aim of this work was to screen Egyptian diabetic patients for symptoms suggestive of oropharyngeal dysphagia using the validated Arabic version of the Eating Assessment Tool (A-EAT-10).

Participants And Methods: 200 Egyptian adult diabetic patients, aged from 18 to 59 years participated in the study.

International consensus (ICON) on assessment of oropharyngeal dysphagia.

Objective: To present international recommendations regarding the proper evaluation of oropharyngeal dysphagia (OD), both objectively and subjectively (self-evaluation).

Methods: Following a thorough review of the literature, 5 experts in the field from 4 different continents answered separately a questionnaire regarding the work-up of OD. Individual answers were presented and discussed during the world ENT conference that was held in Paris in June 2017.
