Estimating generation time of SARS-CoV-2 variants in Italy from the daily incidence rate.

The identification of the transmission parameters of a virus is fundamental to identify the optimal public health strategy. These parameters can present significant changes over time caused by genetic mutations or viral recombination, making their continuous monitoring fundamental. Here we present a method, suitable for this task, which uses as unique information the daily number of reported cases.

The identification of drought-tolerant olive tree genotypes has become an urgent requirement to develop sustainable agriculture in dry lands. However, physiological markers linking drought tolerance with mechanistic effects operating at the cellular level are still lacking, in particular under severe stress, despite the urgent need to develop these tools in the current frame of global change. In this context, 1-year-old olive plants growing in the greenhouse and with a high intra-specific variability (using various genotypes obtained either from cuttings or seeds) were evaluated for drought tolerance under severe stress.

Background: Osteoid osteoma (OO) is a slowly progressing benign osteoblastic tumour. In the hand, this tumour is rare. We propose a review of seventeen cases of OO of the phalanx and metacarpal bone.

Tracheal regeneration: evidence of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell involvement.

Objectives: Recent advances in airway transplantation have shown the ability of ex vivo or in vivo tracheal regeneration with bioengineered conduits or biological substitutes, respectively. Previously, we established a process of in vivo-guided tracheal regeneration using vascular allografts as a biological scaffold. We theorized that tracheal healing was the consequence of a mixed phenomenon associating tracheal contraction and regeneration.
