Malnutrition is common in liver cirrhosis and is associated with increased rates of complications, hospitalization, and mortality. There are no consensus guidelines for malnutrition assessment in liver cirrhosis and a large number of clinicians do not routinely assess for malnutrition in patients with liver cirrhosis. This review explores the tools available for assessment of malnutrition in patients with liver cirrhosis, including nutritional screening protocols, anthropometric tools, biochemical tools, techniques analyzing body composition and functional assessments.

Introduction: In an effort to maximize benefit and minimize morbidity when performing fronto-orbital distraction osteogenesis (FODO) for unilateral coronal synostosis (UCS), we have transitioned to an endoscopic-assisted approach ("endo-FODO"). This study compares photogrammetric outcomes of patients who underwent FODO via an endoscopic-assisted versus open approach.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients treated for UCS from 2013 to 2023.

Ionizable lipids are a key component of lipid nanoparticles, the leading nonviral messenger RNA delivery technology. Here, to advance the identification of ionizable lipids beyond current methods, which rely on experimental screening and/or rational design, we introduce lipid optimization using neural networks, a deep-learning strategy for ionizable lipid design. We created a dataset of >9,000 lipid nanoparticle activity measurements and used it to train a directed message-passing neural network for prediction of nucleic acid delivery with diverse lipid structures.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedent challenge to public health systems, with 95% of cases in Quebec sent home for self-isolation. To ensure continuous care, we implemented an intervention supported by a patient portal (Opal) to remotely monitor at-home patients with COVID-19 via daily self-reports of symptoms, vital signs, and mental health that were reviewed by health care professionals.

Objective: We describe the intervention's implementation, focusing on the (1) process; (2) outcomes, including feasibility, fidelity, acceptability, usability, and perceived response burden; and (3) barriers and facilitators encountered by stakeholders.
