Quantitative biodistribution of nanoparticles in plants with lanthanide complexes.

The inefficient distribution of fertilizers, nutrients, and pesticides on crops is a major challenge in modern agriculture that leads to reduced productivity and environmental pollution. Nanoformulation of agrochemicals is an attractive approach to enable the selective delivery of agents into specific plant organs, their release in those tissues, and improve their efficiency. Already commercialized nanofertilizers utilize the physiochemical properties of metal nanoparticles such as size, charge, and the metal core to overcome biological barriers in plants to reach their target sites.

Discovery of a Novel Cabazitaxel Nanoparticle-Drug Conjugate (CRLX522) with Improved Pharmacokinetic Properties and Anticancer Effects Using a β-Cyclodextrin-PEG Copolymer Based Delivery Platform.

Novel nanoparticle-drug conjugates (NDCs) containing diverse, clinically relevant anticancer drug payloads (docetaxel, cabazitaxel, and gemcitabine) were successfully generated and tested in drug discovery studies. The NDCs utilized structurally varied linkers that attached the drug payloads to a β-cyclodextrin-PEG copolymer to form self-assembled nanoparticles. In vitro release studies revealed a diversity of release rates driven by linker structure-activity relationships (SARs).

Men's experiences of early life trauma and pathways into long-term homelessness.

Previous studies that have explored the association between childhood trauma and homelessness indicate that traumatic events can lead to survivor distrust of interpersonal relationships and institutions, prolonged homelessness and poor health and social outcomes. The majority of this literature relies on quantitative data and fails to investigate the personal experiences of childhood trauma that are found to impact housing status later in life. Semi-structured, qualitative interviews were conducted with 25 men living in an urban area in Ontario who had spent more than 30 consecutive nights in an emergency shelter over the course of their housing histories.

Implementation of a diabetes in pregnancy clinical register in a complex setting: Findings from a process evaluation.

Background: Rates of diabetes in pregnancy are disproportionately higher among Aboriginal than non-Aboriginal women in Australia. Additional challenges are posed by the context of Aboriginal health including remoteness and disadvantage. A clinical register was established in 2011 to improve care coordination, and as an epidemiological and quality assurance tool.
