Background: This meta-review aimed to synthesize the evidence of the effects of exercise on anxiety and depression symptoms amongst adults with cancer, and cancer-survivors, comparing effects sizes between meta-analysis.

Methods: Major databases were searched up to February 9, 2024 for meta-analyses evaluating the effects of exercise, using anxiety and/or depression scales. Effect size (ES) values were calculated as standardized differences in the means and expressed as the Standardized Mean Difference (SMD) with the 95% confidence interval (95%CI).

Purpose: We assessed hospital admission rates for anorexia nervosa (AN)/atypical AN (AAN) relative to other mental, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental disorders across age groups before and 1-year postpandemic onset.

Methods: Using the Canadian Discharge Abstracts Database, we analyzed admissions for AN/AAN and mental, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental disorders in ages 10-84-year-olds, grouped into 10-24, 25-44, and 45+ year olds. Data spanned fiscal years (FY) 2006-2021.

The chemical structure of a delivery nanovehicle plays a pivotal role in determining the efficiency of drug delivery within the body. Leveraging the unique architecture of bottlebrush (BB) polymers-characterized by variations in backbone length, grafting density, and self-assembly morphology-offers a novel approach to understanding the influence of structural properties on biological behavior. In this study, developed a drug delivery system based on core-shell BB polymers synthesized using a "grafting-from" strategy.

Article Synopsis
  • Research indicates that physical activity can help prevent mental illness in youth, but its impact on mental healthcare use hasn't been thoroughly studied.
  • This study analyzed data from Canadian adolescents and young adults (ages 12-24) between 2001 and 2014 to examine the relationship between their physical activity levels and psychiatric hospitalizations.
  • Results showed that those who were moderately active or inactive had higher rates of hospitalizations for mood or anxiety disorders, suggesting that promoting physical activity could be crucial for mental health outcomes in this age group.

Infection of pregnant women by Zika virus (ZIKV) is associated with severe neurodevelopmental defects in newborns through poorly defined mechanisms. Here, we established a zebrafish in vivo model of ZIKV infection to circumvent limitations of existing mammalian models. Leveraging the unique tractability of this system, we gained unprecedented access to the ZIKV-infected brain at early developmental stages.
