Sodium lauroyl sarcosinate (SLS), an anionic surfactant is known to solubilize recombinant proteins during purification processes. Though SLS has been shown to induce amyloid fibrillation in proteins, the specific role of SLS in amyloid formation remains less understood. Despite its well-established use in protein solubilization, further research is needed to clarify its potential influence on amyloid fibrillation pathways.

Objective: This study assessed the inhibitory potential of proteins extracted from seeds on snake venom toxic enzymes along with their potential antioxidant and antibacterial activities.

Methods: Crude proteins were extracted using common biological buffers (20 mM acetate, 20 mM phosphate and 20 mM Tris) at a ratio of 1:5 followed by 80 % ammonium sulfate precipitation, dialysis, and lyophilization. Then the lyophilized extracts were resolved on 15 % sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) gels.

Background: Limited literature exists on labor and delivery outcomes after bariatric surgery. This study assesses the impact of prior bariatric surgery on peripartum outcomes.

Methods: We queried the National Inpatient Sample (2016-2020) for labor and delivery admissions, categorizing them into three cohorts: prior bariatric surgery (BaS), obesity without prior bariatric surgery, and controls without obesity.

Background: Understanding pandemic-related reductions and subsequent recovery of cardiovascular testing in Asia is important for guiding regional public health efforts.

Objectives: This study sought to evaluate the recovery of cardiovascular testing in Asia 1 year into the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: In this subanalysis of a worldwide survey on the impact of COVID-19 on cardiovascular diagnostic care in April 2020 and April 2021, recovery of testing volume in Asia was compared among subregions, World Bank income groups and imaging modalities.

Within the large family of mitogen activated protein kinases (MAPKs), one outlier group referred to as atypical MAPKs is not regulated by conventional upstream MAPK kinases (MAP2Ks). This includes the Dictyostelium discoideum atypical MAPK Erk2, a protein kinase essential for chemotactic movement and development. The regulation and functional specificity of Erk2 was investigated through phenotypic analysis of chimeric and mutant MAPKs.
