Aortic stenosis (AS) is a prevalent condition among the elderly, characterized by the narrowing of the aortic valve, which, if untreated, can lead to heart failure and decreased quality of life in terms of reduced activity and high mortality in one to two years. Surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) has long been the standard treatment for AS. However, it poses significant risks, particularly in older patients with comorbidities.

Although rare, ureteric injuries can occur during gynecological surgical interventions, and their diagnosis can be challenging, especially when delayed. If left untreated, missed ureteric injuries can lead to severe complications, including prolonged hospitalization, sepsis, renal damage, and potentially even loss of the affected kidney. We present a unique case of a urinoma caused by bilateral ureteric injuries following abdominal hysterectomy, which was initially misdiagnosed as an intraperitoneal hematoma.

Developing synthetic materials, with enzyme-like molecular recognition capabilities, as functional receptors in electronic or electrochemical devices for the timely diagnosis of major diseases is a great challenge. Herein, we present the development of Fe/MIPpy nanozymes, characterized as enzyme-like artificial receptors, for the precise and non-invasive monitoring of cancer biomarkers in aqueous solutions and human saliva. Through the integration of PVA-stabilized FeFeO nanocrystals in a molecularly imprinted conducting polypyrrole matrix, the Fe/MIPpy nanozymes demonstrate 424 nA cm nM sensitivity and 220 pM detection limit.

The heliostat field layout in a central receiver solar thermal power plant has significant optical losses that can ultimately affect the overall output power of the plant. In this paper, an optimized heliostat field layout based on annual efficiency and power of 50 MW for the local coordinates of Quetta, Pakistan, is proposed. The performance of two different heliostat field layouts such as radial staggered and Fermat's spiral distribution are evaluated and different design points in a year are considered for the analysis.

Aggression elicited by social rejection is costly, prevalent, and often lethal. Attempts to predict rejection-elicited aggression using trait-based data have had little success. This may be because in-the-moment aggression is a complex process influenced by current states of attention, arousal, and affect which are poorly predicted by trait-level characteristics.
