The purpose of this study is to evaluate the feasibility and clinical outcomes of vasa vasorum embolization for preventing continuous aneurysmal expansion after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent vasa vasorum embolization between August 2018 and May 2022. Vasa vasorum embolization was attempted in cases of continuous aneurysmal expansion after EVAR, where the vasa vasorum was identified through catheter angiography.

Article Synopsis
  • Organ development, particularly in hair follicles, is influenced by a complex space-time landscape that affects cell behavior, making it difficult to study due to its intricate structure and varied developmental stages.
  • Researchers created a method called 3DEEP to analyze thick tissue samples, allowing them to capture data from 371 hair follicles in the skin of a young mouse, leading to the identification of 6 million gene transcripts.
  • The findings provide insights into the stages of hair follicle development, including the timing of structural emergence and the establishment of stem cells before the hair bulb forms, showcasing the potential of advanced spatial transcriptomics for understanding organogenesis.

Skin identity is controlled by intrinsic features of the epidermis and dermis and their interactions. Modifying skin identity has clinical potential, such as the conversion of residual limb and stump (nonvolar) skin of amputees to pressure-responsive palmoplantar (volar) skin to enhance prosthesis use and minimize skin breakdown. Greater keratin 9 () expression, higher epidermal thickness, keratinocyte cytoplasmic size, collagen length, and elastin are markers of volar skin and likely contribute to volar skin resiliency.

Advanced neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) has an extremely poor prognosis, partly explained by the rarity and diagnostic difficulty, for which the most appropriate treatment strategy has not been established. In this report, we discuss a case of unresectable advanced esophagogastric junction NEC, which was difficult to diagnose, that has achieved relatively long-term survival with multidisciplinary treatment centered on nivolumab. A man in his 60s was initially diagnosed with an advanced esophagogastric junction squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers reviewed 46 treatment sessions in 8 patients using a steerable microcatheter system inserted through various upper limb arteries, successfully performing cisplatin infusions and coil embolizations.
  • * Results showed successful procedures with some arterial occlusions (around 30% in certain arteries), but no major complications, indicating the method's feasibility for treatment.
