Aim: Superb microvascular imaging (SMI) is a new ultrasound tool that can detect small blood vessels while cancelling out artefacts. It may be useful in detecting the vascularity associated with malignant breast lesions. This study evaluated the reproducibility and diagnostic performance of SMI's Vascular Index (VI) in differentiating benign from malignant solid breast lesions.

Allergic Rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory condition of the nasal mucosa triggered by Immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated response to exposure to allergens. The most common symptoms are nasal obstruction, sneezing, runny nose and these in addition to swollen, itchy, red and watery eyes. Recent studies have shown highly elevated immunoglobulin E levels in the airway mucosa independently of serum IgE levels and atopic status.

Wrist fractures are particularly difficult to identify because the growth plate poses diagnostic challenges when interpreting radiographs.
Methods: We developed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) image recognition software to detect fractures in radiographs from children.
Background: Ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgery is a niche and unique specialty that has been recognized as being poorly taught throughout medical school and postgraduate training. Junior doctors who rotate into this specialty often find it hard and struggle to manage patients. The aim of this study was to devise a junior doctor-focused induction program with specific emphasis on shadowing and partnered working to improve confidence and competence.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTrichoepitheliomas (TE) are benign tumours but occasionally can undergo transformation to malignant neoplasms more commonly as Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC). The correct diagnosis between these tumours is very important because basal cell carcinoma is locally aggressive neoplasm and requires total surgical excision with wide healthy margins while trichoepithelioma needs simple excision. We describe three patients who developed basal cell carcinoma with facial trichoepitheliomas.
