The aim of the study was to assess the functional activity of peripheral blood phagocytes in patients with drug-induced osteonecrosis of the jaws to develop a new approach to treatment. A total of 35 people were examined, including: 10 healthy individuals, 8 with purulent-inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial region (GVZ ChLO), 17 patients with medical osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ). Among patients with MRONJ, there were 10 men and 7 women, aged from 54 to 73 years, with a mean age of 62 years.

Licopid is a synthetic analogue of a cell wall component of all bacteria. The monocytic macrophageal system is the main target of licopid's action. Addition of the immunomodulator to combined therapy for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in order to enhance phagocytic activity exerted a marked clinical effect appeared as ceased bacterial isolation in 80% of the patients, a fall in the amount of purulent sputum, no symptoms of intoxication following 2-3 weeks, accelerated resolution of infiltrative changes.

A study was made of the immune status in patients with infectious-allergic bronchial asthma in the phase of clinical manifestations before the onset of exacerbation 2 mos after examination, and in patients with a favorable course of disease without exacerbations during the same period of time. The assessment of the immune status was based on a study of the balance of interrelationships in a set of immunological parameters including the chief indices of cellular and humoral immunity (T- and B-lymphocytes, phagocytosing and rosette-forming neutrophils, indices of cell activity in exercise tests, the levels of serum and secretory immunoglobulins--a total of 33 indices). Sharp changes in values and direction of interrelationships in numerous combinations of parameters, especially in those which included the content of immunoglobulins in the sputum, indices of the activity of neutrophils and exercise tests were noted in the patients with exacerbation for 2 mos after examination as compared to those who developed no exacerbations.

It was demonstrated previously that treatment of lymphocytes with the immunostimulant diucifon leads to the secretion of a substance having the biological activity of T cell growth factor. The present work demonstrates that injection into mice on the day of immunization of spleen syngeneic cells treated with diucifon increases the immune response 3-5-fold as compared to the action of untreated cells. Injection of spleen cells incubated without diucifon on day 3 after immunization significantly increases the immune response as compared with control.
