Understanding the dynamic spatial and temporal release of neurotransmitters can help resolve long-standing questions related to chemical modulation of neurological circuits. Dopamine modulates function in a range of physiological processes and is key to transmission in addiction and neurological disorders. Studies at subcellular scales promise to help develop a broader understanding of dopamine release, diffusion, and receptor activation and how these processes lead to functional outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • Immune-related adverse events (irAEs) pose significant risks for patients receiving immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), highlighting the need to identify patients at higher risk and develop strategies to manage these complications.
  • An observational study involving 111 patients found that 40.5% experienced symptomatic irAEs, with higher rates linked to combination ICI therapy and pre-existing autoimmune disorders.
  • Early increases in specific cytokines and T helper cell populations were associated with developing severe irAEs, indicating potential biomarkers for monitoring and targeting therapeutic interventions.

Background: Programmed death receptor ligand 1 (PD-L1) tumor proportion score (TPS) and tumor mutational burden (TMB) are key predictive biomarkers for immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) efficacy in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Data on their variation across multiple samples are limited.

Patients And Methods: Patients with NSCLC and multiple PD-L1 TPS and/or TMB assessments were included.

We describe micro- and nanoelectrode array analysis with an automated version of the array microcell method (AMCM). Characterization of hundreds of electrodes, with diameters ranging from 100 nm to 2 μm, was carried out by using AMCM voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The influence of solvent evaporation on mass transport in the AMCM pipette and the resultant electrochemical response were investigated, with experimental results supported by finite element method simulations.
