Background: Scoliosis is the most common type of spinal deformity. A universal and standard method for evaluating scoliosis is Cobb angle measurement, but several studies have shown that there is intra- and inter- observer variation in measuring cobb angle manually.
Objective: Develop a computer- assisted system to decrease operator-dependent errors in Cobb angle measurement.
Background: Pandemic influenza (H1N1) 2009 emerged in April 2009 and spread widely in India. Although an unprecedented number of cases required intensive care, comparative community-based studies with seasonal influenza strains have not shown any significant differences in clinical symptoms or severity.
Methods: The authors performed active surveillance on confirmed influenza-related admissions and compared the clinical profile of patients with pandemic (H1N1) 2009 influenza and patients with seasonal influenza at a tertiary care hospital in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
Further to conventional linear, branched, crosslinked, and dendritic polymers, single chain cyclized/knotted polymers (SCKPs) have emerged as a new class of polymer structure with unique properties. Herein, the development of bacteria-resistant SCKPs is reported and the effect of this structure on the resistance of polymer materials to bacteria is investigated. Four SCKPs were synthesized by reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) homopolymerization of multivinyl monomers (MVMs) and then crosslinked by UV light to form SCKP films.
