Article Synopsis
  • A study in Johannesburg, South Africa, examined vitamin D levels in 76 COPD patients, focusing on deficiency (≤20 ng/mL) and insufficiency (21-29 ng/mL).
  • Findings revealed that 48% of patients were vitamin D deficient and 35% were insufficient, with sunlight exposure being a key factor in deficiency risk.
  • The results indicate significant suboptimal vitamin D levels in this demographic, highlighting a need for further research, especially in African populations.

There is a paucity of data pertaining to the time between onset of chest pain and thrombolysis in STEMI patients in SA.
