The authors have performed a computerized processing of the electron data base of 1706 patients with duodenal ulcers. The data base included the pre- and postoperative parameters of the overwhelming clinico-instrumental examination and the materials of experimental neurophysiological and neuromorphologic investigations fulfilled in 43 mature dogs. The data obtained are used to prove the concept of ulcerogenesis in the area of the duodenum.

Results of the computer processing of the electron base of data of 1706 patients with duodenal ulcer are presented. The data base includes the pre- and postoperative findings of comprehensive clinical instrumental examinations of the patients. Special attention in the work was given to the diagnostic and prognostic significance of the gastric secretion parameters before operation (the nocturnal secretion.

Findings of light optical and electron microscopy studies on formation of multinuclear neurons in gastrointestinal tract myenteric plexus in mammals affected by extreme factors (vagotomy, modelling of portal hypertension. Hyperbaric oxygenation and hypergravitation) were presented. A model for original transformation of multinuclear neuron as a mechanism of new nerve cells formation in the course of the organism compensatory-adaptive reaction to extreme action was obtained.

Neuronal structure was studied during a year after the truncal subdiaphragmatic two-side vagotomy in nuclei of vagal nerves and oblongated medulla. Jacobson nuclei in the spinal cord lateral cornua and stomach and intestinal nerve plexuses. Dynamics of structural changes in nervous system different regions after vagotomy was shown.

Restoration of regulation of the feeding behaviour after subdiaphragmatic vagotomy in dogs occurs despite of the destruction of nervous fibres within the nn. vagi and the death of their neurons in medullary nuclei. The finding is regarded as a result of formation of a new dominant state in the central nervous system.
