Comparison of embryo yield and pregnancy rate between in vivo and in vitro methods in the same Nelore (Bos indicus) donor cows.

To investigate why the preferred means to produce bovine embryos in Brazil has changed from in vivo to in vitro, we compared these two approaches in the same Nelore cows (n=30) and assessed total embryo production and pregnancy rates. Without a specific schedule, all cows were subjected to ultrasound-guided ovum pick up (OPU)/in vitro production (IVP) and MOET, with intervals ranging from 15 to 45 d between procedures, respectively. Functional evaluation of the ileocolic sphincter transplanted to the neck using microsurgery technique: a manometric study in dogs.

The usefulness of ileocolic sphincter (ICS) transplantation to the neck after a total laryngopharyngectomy was investigated in 12 mongrel dogs. The authors aimed to evaluate the influence of the transplantation on ICS pressure amplitude and ICS length, and on ICS resistance to intracecal pressure increase. Electromanometric measurements showed that ICS pressure amplitude and length presented no changes after the procedure.

[Mixoma of maxilla in a child, report of case and review of the literature].

A case of maxillar mixoma in a child aged one year and three months is reported. The child was submitted to a partial ressection of the maxilla and a reconstruction of the orbital floor with a Kirchner wire and a polipropilene Wire netting. The picture taken one year and eight months later shows the favorable result of the operation.

Esphenoetmoidal diseases when complicated may present serious diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties. A case of esphenoetmoidal mucocele compressing the optic nerve, treated with marsupialization by endoscopic intranasal way, is reported. The literature concerning the subject is commented.
