Unlabelled: Kounis syndrome (KS), characterized by the simultaneous occurrence of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and allergic reactions, can be triggered by a range of factors and drugs. We report on the case of a patient who arrived at our emergency department (ED) with symptoms of an allergic reaction after taking moxifloxacin and deflazacort orally. In the ED, the patient experienced a 5-minute episode of oppressive chest pain.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of imidapril and candesartan on fibrinolysis and insulin sensitivity in normoweight hypertensive patients. After a 2-week wash-out period, 61 patients with mild-to-moderate hypertension were randomized to imidapril or candesartan for 12 weeks. Blood pressure (BP), plasma tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA) and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) antigen activities were evaluated at baseline and during treatment.

What Is Known: The increased risk of cardiovascular events in diabetic patients has been related to numerous metabolic and haemoreological factors. Some of these factors appear to be particularly evident during the post-prandial phases and to be related to peak plasma glucose level.
