Elotuzumab and Weekly Carfilzomib, Lenalidomide, and Dexamethasone in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma Without Transplant Intent: A Phase 2 Measurable Residual Disease-Adapted Study.

Importance: Treatment of newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) with a quadruplet regimen consisting of a monoclonal antibody, proteasome inhibitor, immunomodulatory imide, and corticosteroid has been associated with improved progression-free survival (PFS) compared with triplet regimens. The optimal quadruplet combination, and whether this obviates the need for frontline autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT), remains unknown. We evaluated elotuzumab and weekly carfilzomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone (Elo-KRd) without ASCT in NDMM.

Correlation between anxiety and resilience of healthcare workers during COVID-19 pandemic in the southwest of Iran.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has had a negative impact on healthcare providers. Resilience is thought to protect against mental illnesses and to help people cope with stress more effectively. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between resilience and anxiety in healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Globally, the novel COVID-19 has been recognized as one of the most important pandemics and devastating diseases in human history, with many deaths and morbidities. In the absence of effective treatment and limited supply of COVID-19 vaccine, people must adhere to recommended preventive measures. This study aimed to determine the level of COVID-19 knowledge, perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, and health information-seeking and preventive behaviors as well as associated factors with preventive behaviors in a sample of Iranian students at Persian Gulf University.

Prolonged activity of bevacizumab in adenocarcinoma of the lung with multiple brain metastases.

Patients with lung cancer having multiple brain metastases have poor outcomes. We present long-term disease treatment in a 60-year-old woman having greater than thirty brain metastases of NSCLC adenocarcinoma with a mutant allele of EGFR treated with differing chemotherapies including erlotinib, but disease response in the brain only with bevacizumab. Although initially restricted in use, increasing clinical reports have demonstrated safety of bevacizumab use in brain-involved cancer patients.

Carcinoembryonic antigen as a vaccine target.

We seek to understand and harness our immune systems almost to the same degree as we have sought the answers of the universe. It is gratifying to see that we are making progress in this area with the result being evidence of clinical benefit and consistent alterations in the immune response. In this review, we will explore just one aspect of our efforts by focusing on vaccines that target carcinoembryonic antigen.
