MULTIMODAL IMAGING IN NONEXUDATIVE CHOROIDAL NEOVASCULARIZATION: A Pilot Study of Status of Retinal Pigment Epithelium.

Materials characterizing the epidemiologic situation on most significant infectious diseases in Sverdlovsk region are presented. Experience on providing the epidemiologic welfare based on systematic surveillance for activity of various factors influencing the epidemic process is described.

Responses of constantly firing motor units to afferent stimulation.

Constantly firing motor units of the short abductor muscles of the first finger in the human hand and the abdominal wall muscle in immobilized rats responded to afferent stimulation of the median and sciatic nerves respectively with changes in the nature of spike activity. In the first 250 msec of the post-stimulus period, the frequency of motor unit spike activity became unstable and peri-stimulus histograms were individually quite distinct. This was followed by relative stabilization of motor unit discharge frequencies, and the subsequently (750 msec) determined motor unit spike frequency depended on most cases on the background spike frequency.

[The reaction of firing motor units to afferent pulses].

Afferent stimulation of the human motor units was unstable in its effect during the first 250 msec. Peristimulus time histograms were specifically individual for a single motor unit. The motor units altered their firing rate in response to afferent volleys depending on the background firing rate of the motoneurons.

[The acceptability of current contraceptive methods to adolescents].

The authors analyze the admissibility of present-day contraception methods in 107 adolescent girls who used oral anteovin and trisiston and in 128 ones who used copper-containing IUDs. Analysis has not revealed noticeable differences in the incidence of side effects in adolescents and a control group of women of a reproductive age. Spontaneous menses recovery occurred in all young patients within 26 to 36 days after the drugs were discontinued, and basal temperature biphasic pattern recovered in 70.
