The aim of the study is to determine the average intensity and variation of the native background signal amplitude (NSA) and of the solar light-induced signal amplitude (LSA) in electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of tooth enamel for different kinds of teeth and different groups of people. These values are necessary for determination of the intensity of the radiation-induced signal amplitude (RSA) by subtraction of the expected NSA and LSA from the total signal amplitude measured in L-band for in vivo EPR dosimetry. Variation of these signals should be taken into account when estimating the uncertainty of the estimated RSA.

The doses were obtained by stochastic modeling of the ionizing particle transport (Monte Carlo method) for a mathematical human phantom with arms and hands placed loosely along the sides of the body. The resulting dose conversion factors for absorbed doses in fingernails can be used to assess the dose distribution and magnitude in practical dose reconstruction problems.

Pharmacokinetic parameters of preparation distribution in the body of animals were experimentally determined and then absorbed doses were calculated using MCNP code for the developed mathematical model of mouse. It was shown that absorption of 103Pd-MSA in tumor, physical properties of 103Pd and daughter radionuclide 103mRh provide a targeted irradiation of tumor as compared with the adjusting tissues and critical organs.

General aspects of applying the method of retrospective dose estimation by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy of human tooth enamel (EPR dosimetry) to the population residing in the vicinity of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site are analyzed and summarized. The analysis is based on the results obtained during 20 years of investigations conducted in the Medical Radiological Research Center regarding the development and practical application of this method for wide-scale dosimetrical investigation of populations exposed to radiation after the Chernobyl accident and other radiation accidents.

Individual compounds formed upon digestion of (A2'/3'p)n with binase have been isolated. Their structure was determined on the basis of their chemical and enzymatic conversions and confirmed by 1H-, 13C- and 31P-NMR spectra.
