- The study aimed to investigate the rewarding and aversive effects of drugs using a combined conditioned taste aversion (CTA) and place preference (CPP) method in mice, similar to previous findings in rats.
- Male and female C57BL/6 mice were given a saccharin solution and injected with varying doses of a synthetic drug called methylone, followed by assessments of taste aversion and place preference after conditioning.
- Results showed that mice developed significant taste aversion and place preference, indicating that the combined design is effective; however, there was no correlation between how much they avoided the taste and how much they preferred the location, suggesting independent pathways for these effects.
