Patients divided into 3 groups of n = 98, 120 and 222 were estimated to daily consume 9, 12 and 16 or more gram of salt respectively. Clinical manifestations of arterial hypertension and AP values progressively increased from group 1 to 3.

Measurement of Na in daily urine of 442 patients was followed by estimation of salt consumption. The results were compared with those obtained in 100 patients with newly diagnosed AH.
