Background: Endoscopic gastric pouch plications (EGPP) have emerged as a novel approach for managing weight-related issues and postoperative complications following bariatric surgery. However, safety for these revisions remains limited. This study aims to evaluate the 30-day rate of serious complications and mortality associated with EGPP using the MBSAQIP database.

Gastric per-oral endoscopic myotomy (G-POEM) is used to treat refractory gastroparesis, but long-term outcomes of this proceudre remain unclear.
Methods: The 100 patients from our initial study, now >6 years post-procedure from G-POEM, were contacted by phone survey for follow-up to determine clinical outcomes, including gastroparesis cardinal symptom index (GCSI).
Introduction: Recurrent paraesophageal hernia (PEH) repair presents significant technical challenges, with limited data weighing the benefit to the operative risk. This study aims to describe our experience with recurrent PEH repair, including long-term surgical and patient reported outcomes (PROs).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of recurrent PEH repairs from June 2018-March 2023 using our institutional database.
Introduction: Cardiac function is important to quantify for risk stratification. Although left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) is commonly used, and identifies patients with poor systolic function, other easily acquired measures of cardiac function are needed, particularly to stratify patients with relatively preserved LVEF. LV relative wall thickness (RWT) has been associated with adverse clinical outcomes in patients with preserved LVEF, but the clinical relevance of this observation is not known.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFrailty and cardiovascular diseases are increasingly prevalent in aging populations, sharing common pathological mechanisms, such as oxidative stress. The evidence shows that these factors predispose frail individuals to cardiovascular diseases but also increase the risk of thrombosis. Considering this background, this review aims to explore advances regarding the relationship between oxidative stress, platelet alterations, and cardiovascular diseases in frailty, examining the role of reactive oxygen species overproduction in platelet activation and thrombosis.
