An 84-year-old woman, with background history of atrial fibrillation, cerebral vascular disease, ischemic heart failure by coronary disease with several stent implantation, presented in the emergency room with syncope. The chest radiograph evidenced the coronary trajectory by their calcification.

The objective of this study was to assess air quality in relation to vehicular traffic flow in cities located at different elevations in the Bodoquena microregion, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. To do so, a micronucleus test was carried out using the TRAD-MCN bioassay on young Tradescantia buds collected from February to November 2018 in seven cities of the microregion with different traffic flow intensities. Meteorological parameters were evaluated, and vehicular traffic was counted to determine traffic flow in each city.

The authors present the case of a previously healthy, 22-year-old male nonsmoker who sought emergency room treatment complaining of retrosternal pain. He reported a history of odynophagia two days before, followed by produc- tive cough, fever and dyspnea. On chest radiography, a line could be observed surrounding the heart and the continuous diaphragm sign.

The Mongolian gerbil has been widely used as a global brain ischemia model because of its incomplete cerebral circle of Willis. However, the inter-individual anatomic variability of this vascular structure interferes with the reliability of the model. The aim of this work was to introduce modifications to the protocol of global brain ischemia experiments in Mongolian gerbils in an attempt to increase the reliability and usefulness of this model.
