Background: This manuscript presents the challenges of treating various forms of headaches and the potential of interventional techniques targeting the greater occipital nerve (GON) to alleviate the burden on patients. Occipital neuralgia, characterized by stabbing or shooting pain in the base of the skull, is often associated with primary, cervicogenic, or migraine headaches. While occipital nerve blocks offer temporary relief, durable treatment options are limited.

Background: Health workforce supply is critical to ensuring the delivery of essential healthcare and may be enhanced via mechanisms which alter the scopes of practice of health professions. The aim of this paper is to study the collective perspectives of allied health decision-makers on factors which influence their development and implementation of advanced and extended scope of practice initiatives, and how they contribute to scope of practice change. The reasoning for the selection of each factor will also be examined.

Stiffening of the human proximal pulmonary artery with increasing age.

Adverse effects of large artery stiffening are well established in the systemic circulation; stiffening of the proximal pulmonary artery (PPA) and its sequelae are poorly understood. We combined in vivo (n = 6) with ex vivo data from cadavers (n = 8) and organ donors (n = 13), ages 18 to 89, to assess whether aging of the PPA associates with changes in distensibility, biaxial wall strain, wall thickness, vessel diameter, and wall composition. Circumscription of the East Asia clade (Apiaceae subfamily Apioideae) and the taxonomic placements of several problematic genera.

The East Asia (or ) clade was recognized in previous molecular phylogenetic investigations into the higher-level relationships of Apiaceae subfamily Apioideae. The composition of this clade, the phylogenetic relationships among its constituent taxa, and the placement of species previously determined to be problematic have yet to be resolved. Herein, nrDNA ITS sequences were obtained for 150 accessions of Apioideae, representing species whose distributions are in East Asia or genera having one or more species included within the East Asia clade.

Livedoid Vasculopathy with Severe Debilitating Neuropathy in a Prior Professional Athlete.

Livedoid vasculopathy (LV) can be a challenging diagnosis with an interesting pathophysiology. LV is an uncommon diagnosis that can be easily mistaken for more common skin conditions, especially in a person of color who may be underrepresented in pathology images used in medical education. LV has an average of five years from initial presentation to diagnosis, possibly due to providers not having it on their differential for lower extremity ulcerations.
