Lemmel's syndrome encompasses a range of conditions in which a juxtapapillary duodenal diverticulum exerts mechanical and functional effects on the common bile and pancreatic ducts, leading to jaundice and pancreatitis. In this report, we describe a very rare case of carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater that was detected during postoperative follow-up in a patient who had undergone choledochojejunostomy following a diagnosis of Lemmel's syndrome. We present our clinical and pathological experiences with the diagnosis and treatment of this case as well as a review of the present literature concerning Lemmel's syndrome.

Methods: This study prospectively analyzed 50 NSCLC patients who underwent VAmPLT lobectomy. We measured maximal negative inspiratory pressure (PImax), maximal positive expiratory pressure (PEmax), quadriceps strength (QS), 6-min walk test (6mWT), and postoperative pain during the perioperative period.
This report describes a rare case of thrombocytopenia with high levels of platelet-associated immunoglobulin G (PA-IgG) in a patient with an adenocarcinoma of the lung. After surgical resection, the platelet count gradually increased and the serum PA-IgG levels decreased to within normal reference ranges. These findings suggest a relationship between pulmonary adenocarcinoma and PA-IgG.

Four recipients with HBsAb (+) and HBcAb (+), who received living donor grafts from HBcAb (+) donors were herein reviewed. They received lamivudine monotherapy: three patients with HBsAb titer >10 IU/L did not demonstrate the onset of HBsAg, whereas one patient with HBsAb titer <10 IU/L developed hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg) 4 years after transplantation.

Methodology: Twenty-nine LDLTs, including liver cirrhosis due to HBV (LC-B) (n = 17) and fulminant hepatitis B (FH-B) (n = 12) were reviewed. Prophylaxis for reinfection was performed with a combination of lamivudine, or hepatitis B immune globulin (HBIG) or adefovir, depending on the viral status.
Objective: Focal adhesion kinase (FAK) expression has been linked to tumor cell invasion and metastasis, but its role in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) has not been addressed. The goal of this study was to investigate FAK expression in ICC and to assess whether its expression is correlated with clinicopathological factors or prognosis in patients with ICC.
Methods: FAK expression was examined using immunohistochemistry with sections from 56 resected ICC specimens.
We herein report a case of advanced gastric small cell carcinoma treated by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. A 69-year-old man was admitted to our hospital presenting with appetite loss and body weight loss. He was diagnosed to have an inoperable gastric small cell carcinoma with severe lymph node metastases and left adrenal gland metastasis.
