We present results of the updated SuperChic 3 Monte Carlo event generator for central exclusive production. This extends the previous treatment of proton-proton collisions to include heavy ion (pA and AA) beams, for both photon and QCD-initiated production, the first time such a unified treatment of exclusive processes has been presented in a single generator. To achieve this we have developed a theory of the gap survival factor in heavy ion collisions, which allows us to derive some straightforward results about the scaling of the corresponding cross sections.

A new enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) inhibitor series comprising a substituted phenyl ring joined to a dimethylpyridone moiety via an amide linkage has been designed. A preferential amide torsion that improved the binding properties of the compounds was identified for this series via computational analysis. Cyclization of the amide linker resulted in a six-membered lactam analogue, compound 18.

Lat1 (SLC7A5) is an amino acid transporter often required for tumor cell import of essential amino acids (AA) including Methionine (Met). Met is the obligate precursor of S-adenosylmethionine (SAM), the methyl donor utilized by all methyltransferases including the polycomb repressor complex (PRC2)-specific EZH2. Cell populations sorted for surface Lat1 exhibit activated EZH2, enrichment for Met-cycle intermediates, and aggressive tumor growth in mice.

In addition to genetic alterations, cancer cells are characterized by myriad epigenetic changes. EZH2 is a histone methyltransferase that is over-expressed and mutated in cancer. The EZH2 gain-of-function (GOF) mutations first identified in lymphomas have recently been reported in melanoma (~2%) but remain uncharacterized.

A simplified total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TRXF) technique is proposed for the study of the electrical double layer (EDL) near charged monolayers at the air-water interface. In contrast to the parent NTEF (near total external reflection X-ray fluorescence) method, TRXF uses a fixed angle of incidence (below the critical one) and abandons both "spatial resolution" (which is poor anyway) and "absolute calibration" with the bulk reference. These modifications reduce both the duration of experiments and the complexity of the data treatment by 1-2 orders of magnitude and turn TRXF into a truly simple tool for elemental analysis within the EDL.

Objective: Our purpose was to determine the ability of different indications for cone biopsy to predict the presence of disease in the cone specimen and the utility of conization for low-grade disease.

Study Design: The records were reviewed of all patients who had an excisional cone biopsy at Queens Hospital Center between 1984 and 1995. Data were gathered regarding cytologic studies, visualization of the transformation zone, colposcopically directed biopsy, and endocervical curettage.

Objective: The objective was to determine if repeating a Pap smear at the time of an initial colposcopy has sufficient clinical benefit to justify its clinical and financial costs.

Methods: The records were reviewed of all patients who had an initial colposcopy at Queens Hospital Center between 1984 and 1995. Data were gathered regarding the referral cytology, the cytology done at the time of colposcopy, and the results of any biopsies which were taken.
