BACKGROUND Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography for common bile duct stone in patients who underwent gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y anastomosis is challenging. We report a case in which we performed endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography through a small-intestinal incision approach for a common bile duct stone, which had developed after total gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y anastomosis. CASE REPORT An 86-year-old woman with a history of laparoscopic-assisted total gastrectomy and R-Y anastomosis and incision of the common bile duct and cholecystectomy for common bile duct stone by open surgery 3 years ago presented with abdominal pain.

This case report series describes eight patients (four patients with pancreatic carcinoma, one patient with hepatocellular carcinoma, one patient with gastric and rectal carcinoma, one with sigmoid colon cancer, and one with rectal cancer), whose abdominal cancer pain was treated with intravenous phentolamine infusion at 80 mg x day(-1) for 2 days. All but one of the patients had already been treated with opioids. All eight patients complained of severe abdominal pain; in five patients the pain radiated to the back, and there was associated anal pain in two patients.

The first case of domino liver transplantation from a brain-dead donor in Japan is described. A 49-year-old man with familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy received a cadaver liver, and his native liver was transplanted into a 53-year-old man with polycystic liver and kidney disease. The cadaveric liver allograft was transplanted by the conventional technique.
