. Coincidence time resolution (CTR) in time-of-flight positron emission tomography (TOF-PET) has significantly improved with advancements in scintillators, photodetectors, and readout electronics. Achieving a CTR of 100 ps remains challenging due to the need for sufficiently thick scintillators-typically 20 mm-to ensure adequate sensitivity because the photon transit time spread within these thick scintillators impedes achieving 100 ps CTR.

Material And Methods: Between November 2018 and March 2023, 147 patients with breast cancer treated with abemaciclib at Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University Hospital and Kindai University Nara Hospital were included. The exclusion criteria were as follows: lack of blood testing within 2 weeks prior to starting abemaciclib therapy, transfer to another facility after the commencement of abemaciclib therapy, and discontinuation of abemaciclib therapy due to the diagnosis of another cancer.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients receiving biological and targeted synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (b/tsDMARDs) often experience treatment changes due to inefficacy or adverse events. The purpose of this study was to clarify the incidence and reasons for change of b/tsDMARDs in a cohort of Japanese patients with RA and to identify the predictors of treatment change. This was a retrospective observational study of RA patients prescribed b/tsDMARD between April 2011 and December 2020 at the Kindai University Nara Hospital.

Therefore, signaling pathways evolved for survival in fluctuating environments often remain functionally latent in laboratory settings. Here, we show that TGA1 and TGA4 act as hub transcription factors through which the expression of genes involved in high-affinity nitrate uptake are regulated in response to shoot-derived phloem mobile polypeptides, CEP DOWNSTREAM 1 (CEPD1), CEPD2 and CEPD-like 2 (CEPDL2) as nitrogen (N) deficiency signals, and Glutaredoxin S1 (GrxS1) to GrxS8 as N sufficiency signals.

In positron emission tomography (PET) reconstruction, the integration of time-of-flight (TOF) information, known as TOF-PET, has been a major research focus. Compared to traditional reconstruction methods, the introduction of TOF enhances the signal-to-noise ratio of images. Precision in TOF is measured by full width at half maximum (FWHM) and the offset from ground truth, referred to as coincidence time resolution (CTR) and bias.

To maximize the practical applicability of the dPEI system to clinical practice, we introduce a novel reconstruction-free image-formation method called direct μ imaging, which directly localizes the interaction position of Compton scattering from the annihilation photons in a three-dimensional space by utilizing the same compact geometry as that for dPEI, involving ultrafast time-of-flight radiation detectors. This unique imaging method not only provides the anatomical information about an object but can also be applied to attenuation correction of dPEI images.

We revealed that overexpression of podoplanin in tumor invasion fronts (IF) was related to poor prognosis of dogs with mucosal melanoma. Moreover, podoplanin expressed in canine mucosal melanoma cells promotes proliferation and aggressive amoeboid invasion by activating Rho-associated kinase (ROCK)-myosin light chain 2 (MLC2) signaling.

Methods: We used the 2005-2018 JMDC claims database, a nationwide claims database in Japan. From the database of 7 175 048 patients, study patients were obtained by applying the following exclusion criteria: no use of bDMARDs; without information on the date of prescription; without RA as a disease; other than the new users of bDMARDs; and age <18 years.
Barium fluoride, an inorganic scintillation material used for the detection of X-ray and/or gamma-ray radiation, has been receiving increasing attention in the field of radiation measurements in fast-timing applications. To make full use of its timing properties, its slow emission around the ultraviolet region, more specifically, the 300 nm region needs to be suppressed. Although doping ions, such as lanthanum, yttrium, and cadmium, can suppress the slow component, such techniques can lose information of interacted radiations.

Theoretically, the back-to-back annihilation photons produced by positron-electron annihilation can be directly localized in three-dimensional space using time-of-flight information without tomographic reconstruction. However, this has not yet been demonstrated due to the insufficient timing performance of available radiation detectors.

Although supervised convolutional neural networks (CNNs) often outperform conventional alternatives for denoising positron emission tomography (PET) images, they require many low- and high-quality reference PET image pairs. Herein, we propose an unsupervised 3D PET image denoising method based on an anatomical information-guided attention mechanism. The proposed magnetic resonance-guided deep decoder (MR-GDD) utilizes the spatial details and semantic features of MR-guidance image more effectively by introducing encoder-decoder and deep decoder subnetworks.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the prescribing trends of bDMARDs for patients with rheumatoid arthritis in Japan, and to clarify whether the pharmacological therapy of bDMARDs is administered based on guidelines.
Methods: We conducted a descriptive epidemiological study from 2012 to 2018 using the JMDC Claims Database, a nationwide claims database, and described the annual changes based on the number of patients prescribed bDMARDs.
