A 54-year-old man underwent right S6 segmentectomy for right lung cancer. After discharge, he presented with fever, hemoptysis, and cough, and computed tomography showed an intermediate bronchus fistula. Because direct closure or bronchoplasty was challenging, a Dumon (Novatech) stent was inserted directly into the fistula from the surgical field and covered with an autologous pericardial patch, pedicled mediastinal fat, and intercostal muscle.

Computed tomography (CT) showed a 36 mm solid nodule at left S1+2, and 3 dimentional (3D)-CT showed the left B1+2 branching from the left main bronchus. Bronchoscopy showed branching of B1+2, B3~5, and inferior lobar bronchus from the left main bronchus, and a biopsy from the peripheral area of B1+2 confirmed the diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma.

The modified advanced lung cancer inflammation index (mALI), which combines body composition and systemic inflammation/nutrition, is defined as appendicular skeletal muscle index × serum albumin/neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio. This retrospective study aimed to investigate associations between preoperative mALI and surgical outcomes in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.
