Increased signal separation upgrade permits preliminary electron anisotropy measurements with Heliotron J multi-pass Thomson diagnostic.

A signal separation system is constructed on the multi-pass Thomson scattering system of Heliotron J to solve the problem of overlapping scattered light signals for the electron temperature anisotropy measurement. The phenomenon of overlapping scattered light signals is relieved by operating the signal separation system. A Raman scattering experiment is undertaken to verify the separation effect of the signal separation system.

Design of a dual scattering angle multi-pass Thomson scattering system with signal separation function on Heliotron J.

This paper proposes a design of dual scattering angles multi-path Thomson scattering system with a signal separation function to solve the overlapping phenomenon of scattered light signals and to increase the measurement accuracy for the investigation of anisotropic electron velocity distribution. Furthermore, an optical path design is proposed to demonstrate how overlapping scattered light signals can be separated by setting the optical path in a limited room with a compact layout, which makes the incident interval between two overlapping scattered light signals 1.7 times longer than that of our current system.

Purification and characterization of d-allulose 3-epimerase derived from Arthrobacter globiformis M30, a GRAS microorganism.

An enzyme that catalyzes C-3 epimerization between d-fructose and d-allulose was found in Arthrobacter globiformis strain M30. Arthrobacter species have long been used in the food industry and are well-known for their high degree of safety. The enzyme was purified by ion exchange and hydrophobic interaction chromatographies and characterized as a d-allulose 3-epimerase (d-AE).

Ureteral cancer first recognized by mechanical ileus due to intestinal metastasis.

We report a case of ureteral transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) first recognized because of mechanical ileus due to intestinal metastasis without definitive evidence of hydronephrosis or ureteral mass on plain computed tomography. We believe this to be the first case of ureteral TCC that was first recognized because of mechanical ileus due to small intestinal metastasis.

Case of acute urinary retention as a result of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

A 19-year-old woman presented at our hospital with acute urinary retention in September 2005. She had experienced the same chief complaint twice previously. She had used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs before acute urinary retention.

[Testicular abscess: report of 2 cases].

We report two cases of testicular abscess. The first case is in a 53-year-old man who had been suffering from diabetes mellitus. Because of cerebral infarction, he had been bedridden and a Foley catheter had been indwelt for a long period of time.

Transurethral fulguration for empyema of ectopic ureteral stump.

A 55-year-old woman who had undergone left nephrectomy 7 years prior because of pyonephrosis, suffered from refractory cystitis and was diagnosed with empyema of the left ureteral stump associated with ectopic ureter. Although removal of the stump is a popular treatment for this disease, transurethral fulguration of the stump lumen was performed in the patient described here. The procedure was technically easy and safe, resulting in the disappearance of the dilated stump and cessation of recurring cystitis.
