Laboratory test consumption was determined for patients hospitalized for diabetes in 2005 in three public hospitals (one civilian, two military) taking care of diabetic patients and performing related biological tests. Injury of other abdominal arteries during percutaneous renal biopsy is exceedingly rare. We report herein a case of left superior colonic artery injury during ultrasonographically guided percutaneous renal biopsy, which was responsible for pseudoaneurysm formation and subsequent intra-abdominal hemorrhage and gastrointestinal bleeding.

A recent study to measure social disability used the results of a questionnaire administered to 696 patients between March 14th and April 7th 2007 which showed that three-quarters of the population surveyed have a social disability. Major determinants of social disadvantage are found using three specific indicators: income, assets and home-interior comfort. The aim of this study is to review the rationale for the formulation of this public health issue and its integration in national action plans. Methods: The CTE examinations of 430 consecutive patients were retrospectively and blindly reviewed for the presence of possible pathologic conditions that might have affected abdominopelvic organs other than the small bowel. Current protocols for myeloma patients require more than one autologous transplant. We performed a retrospective study to determine the cost-effectiveness of large volume leukapheresis (LVL) compared with standard volume leukapheresis (SVL) collection when two transplants are required. We evaluated 87 patients who underwent a cumulative total of 260 LVL and SVL collections.

This variation, which was demonstrated by 64-row CT angiography and three-dimensional reformatted images, has never been reported. Surgeons involved in hepatic and biliopancreatic procedures should be aware of this possible variation, which has important surgical implications.
