Organic Optocoupler with Simple Construction as an Effective Linear Current Transceiver.

In this study, it is shown that an efficient organic optocoupler (OPC) can be fabricated using commercially available and solution-processable organic semiconductors. The transmitter is a single-active-layer organic light-emitting diode (OLED) made from a well-known polyparavinylene derivative, Super Yellow. The receiver is an organic light-emitting diode (OLSD) with a single active layer consisting of a mixture of the polymer donor PTB7-Th and the low-molecular-weight acceptor ITIC; the receiver operates without an applied reverse voltage.

The Influence of Polymer Impregnating Materials on Structural Strengthening of 3D Printed Sand Molds Produced by Binder Jetting Method.

Additive manufacturing offers great potential for various industrial solutions; in particular, the binder jetting method enables the production of components from various materials, including sand molds for casting. This work presents the results of an extensive set of experiments aimed at enhancing the structural strengthening of 3D-printed sand molds. Structural strengthening was achieved by impregnating the sand-printed structures with two polymer materials: epoxy resin and silicone varnish.

What Is Known: Botulinum toxin (BoNT) causes muscle relaxation by inhibiting acetylcholine release from presynaptic motor neurons at the neuromuscular junction.

What Is New: In children with achalasia, BoNT can be considered only in patients in whom rapid weight gain is important to improve surgical outcomes. BoNT has been suggested for treating cricopharyngeal achalasia and delayed gastric emptying.

When disruption or dysfunction of neuromuscular function occurs, motility disorders can be classified depending on whether coordination or strength/velocity of peristalsis are predominantly impacted.

The need to identify secondary sources of REEs and their recovery has led to the search for new methods and materials. In this study, a novel type of ion-imprinted adsorption membranes based on modified chitosan was synthesized. Their application for the recovery of chosen REEs from synthetic coal fly ash extracts was analyzed.

Assessing the Burden of Respiratory Syncytial Virus-related Bronchiolitis in Primary Care and at 15-Day and 6-Month Follow-up Before Prophylaxis in France: A Test-negative Study.

Objective: To assess the burden of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-related bronchiolitis in primary care and at 15 days and 6 months after a primary care visit.

Study Design: In this test-negative study, children <2 years old with a first episode of bronchiolitis were prospectively enrolled by 45 ambulatory pediatricians in France from February 2021 to April 2023. RSV was assessed with a rapid antigen detection test.

Taxonomic Diversity and Functional Traits of Soil Bacterial Communities under Radioactive Contamination: A Review.

Studies investigating the taxonomic diversity and structure of soil bacteria in areas with enhanced radioactive backgrounds have been ongoing for three decades. An analysis of data published from 1996 to 2024 reveals changes in the taxonomic structure of radioactively contaminated soils compared to the reference, showing that these changes are not exclusively dependent on contamination rates or pollutant compositions. High levels of radioactive exposure from external irradiation and a high radionuclide content lead to a decrease in the alpha diversity of soil bacterial communities, both in laboratory settings and environmental conditions.

Objectives: Diagnosis of rumination syndrome (RS) relies on Rome IV criteria. Oesophageal high-resolution impedance manometry (HRIM) can objectively demonstrate the episodes of rumination, but its role in the diagnostic pathway is not yet established. We aimed to demonstrate the clinical contribution of this tool for the timely diagnosis of RS and diagnostic work-up of children with unexplained foregut symptoms deemed to be due to other conditions.

Vaccine-preventable Pediatric Acute Bacterial Meningitis in France: A Time Series Analysis of a 19-Year Prospective National Surveillance Network.

Background: In France, vaccination has been implemented against Hi serotype b (Hib), pneumococcus with pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCV), and Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C (MenC). These interventions with different coverage and uptake have disrupted the epidemiology of vaccine-preventable acute bacterial meningitis (ABM).

Methods: We analyzed data from a French prospective surveillance network of ABM in children ≤15 years old enrolled by 259 pediatric wards (estimated national coverage: 61%).

Introduction: Pediatric gastrointestinal motility disorders represent some of the most challenging clinical conditions with largely undefined pathogenetic pathways and therefore limited therapeutic options. Background: The value of formative objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) during the pre-clinical years of medical education remains unclear. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of a formative OSCE program for medical students in their pre-clinical years on subsequent performance in summative OSCE.

Methods: We conducted a non-randomized controlled prospective pilot study that included all medical students from the last year of the pre-clinical cycle of the Université Paris-Cité Medical School, France, in 2021.

Using multiple national surveillance systems, we found an increase in the incidence of invasive pneumococcal disease during after the relaxation of non-pharmaceutical interventions against COVID-19, which strongly varied by age. Age groups with higher incidence of respiratory syncytial virus and influenza also experienced higher increase in invasive pneumococcal disease incidence, with no change in pneumococcal carriage.
