Introduction: Urine cytology is robust for the diagnosis of urothelial lesions, but data on the detection rates of prostatic adenocarcinoma in urine cytology is limited. In this study, a multicenter review was performed to define the clinical role of urine cytology in diagnosis of prostatic adenocarcinoma.

Methods: Cytologic diagnoses of lower tract urine cytology specimens with histology-proven prostatic adenocarcinoma from three institutions, from a period of over two decades, were reviewed.

Background: SARS-CoV-2 remains rapidly evolving, and many biologically important genomic substitutions/indels have characterised novel SARS-CoV-2 lineages, which have emerged during successive global waves of the pandemic. Worldwide genomic sequencing has been able to monitor these waves, track transmission clusters, and examine viral evolution in real time to help inform healthcare policy. One school of thought is that an apparent greater than average divergence in an emerging lineage from contemporary variants may require persistent infection, for example in an immunocompromised host.

While recent studies have shed light on the existence conditions and modal characteristics of truncation resonances in discrete systems, much remains to be understood about their behavior in continuous structures. Identification of bone erosions and quantification of erosion volume is important for rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, and can add important information to evaluate disease progression and treatment effects. Ricin is a toxin which enters cells and depurinates an adenine base in the sarcin-ricin loop in the large ribosomal subunit, leading to the inhibition of protein translation and cell death. We postulated that this depurination event could be detected using Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) direct RNA sequencing, detecting a change in charge in the ricin loop. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has a complex strategy for the transcription of viral subgenomic mRNAs (sgmRNAs), which are targets for nucleic acid diagnostics. Mutations in a synaptic organizing pathway contribute to autism. Autism-associated mutations in MDGA2 (MAM domain containing glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor 2) are thought to reduce excitatory/inhibitory transmission. However, we show that mutation of Mdga2 elevates excitatory transmission, and that MDGA2 blocks neuroligin-1 interaction with neurexins and suppresses excitatory synapse development.
