Background: The Latarjet procedure was developed for the treatment of anterior shoulder instability in young, high-demand patients with attritional glenoid bone loss, whose risk of redislocation following primary dislocation may exceed 90%. Coracoid graft osteolysis and prominent screws are commonly observed in late computed tomography (CT) scans of patients who re-present following the procedure, but the clinical relevance of osteolysis in the overall Latarjet cohort is undetermined. We aimed to evaluate clinical and radiological outcomes in patients who underwent the Latarjet procedure, and to determine if severe coracoid graft osteolysis compromised clinical outcomes.

Methods: An online survey queried the perceptions and management of distal biceps tendon ruptures amongst fellowship-trained subspecialty elbow surgeons, which primarily comprised of members of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia, the national subspecialist interest group of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Mayo Clinic Elbow Club (Rochester, MN, USA).

Background: The addition of onlay biological grafts to augment difficult rotator cuff repairs has shown encouraging results in a case series.

Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the addition of an onlay bioinductive implant would improve repair integrity, shear wave elastographic appearance of the repaired tendon and patch, and patient-rated and/or surgeon-measured shoulder function when used in workers' compensation patients undergoing revision arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. We hypothesized that the addition of the bioinductive implant would enhance repair integrity and clinical outcomes compared with standard repair.

The aim of this study was to pyrolyze individual (oil palm shell, empty fruit bunch and sawdust) as well as blend biomass in a thermogravimetric mass spectrometry (TG-MS) from room temperature to 800 °C at constant heating rate of 15 °C/min. The results showed that the onset TG temperature for blend biomass shifted slightly to lower values. Activation energy values were also found to decrease slightly after blending the biomass.

The absence of a positive family history (PFH) in 10%-25% of patients poses a diagnostic challenge for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). In the Toronto Genetic Epidemiology Study of Polycystic Kidney Disease, 210 affected probands underwent renal function testing, abdominal imaging, and comprehensive and mutation screening. From this cohort, we reviewed all patients with and without an apparent family history, examined their parental medical records, and performed renal imaging in all available parents of unknown disease status.
