When Culture Matters: Using Compliments and Complaints to Define and Influence Chinese Patients' Satisfaction.

Despite patients' cultural background influencing their satisfaction with medical care the majority of studies draw on assumptions and models from the Western world. We move attention to the East Asian world by investigating the attributes of Chinese patients' satisfaction with their hospital in-patient care. Our research design is an exploratory qualitative study of 577 incidents of Chinese hospital in-patients' complaints and compliments.

Enhancing employee creativity: Effects of choice, rewards and personality.

We conducted a quasi-experimental field study of an organization-wide suggestion program and a follow-up laboratory experiment to examine the effects of choice of rewards on employee creativity. As hypothesized, the results of both studies showed that choice had positive, significant effects on the number of creative ideas employees generated and the creativity level of those ideas. Results of the quasi-experiment also showed that creative self-efficacy (CSE) mediated the effects of reward choice.

Validation of a Measure of Chinese Outpatients' Satisfaction in the Taiwan Setting.

The medical services market is rapidly expanding around the world, following the experience of the industrialized Western economies. Cultural differences make existing assumptions about health care quality risky to export, leading to an increasing interest in understanding patient satisfaction with care within non-Western contexts. Within the Greater China region, both Western and traditional Chinese medicine coexist, yet there is a lack of research instruments that include distinct values of Chinese patients.

Tin-oxide-coated single-walled carbon nanotube bundles supporting platinum electrocatalysts for direct ethanol fuel cells.

Novel tin-oxide (SnO(2))-coated single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) bundles supporting platinum (Pt) electrocatalysts for ethanol oxidation were developed for direct ethanol fuel cells. SnO(2)-coated SWNT (SnO(2)-SWNT) bundles were synthesized by a simple chemical-solution route. SnO(2)-SWNT bundles supporting Pt (Pt/SnO(2)-SWNTs) electrocatalysts and SWNT-supported Pt (Pt/SWNT) electrocatalysts were prepared by an ethylene glycol reduction method.
