Synchronous occurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and Hodgkin lymphoma.

Latent Epstein-Barr virus infection is associated with several lymphoid and epithelial malignancies. This is the first reported case of a patient presenting with synchronous nasopharyngeal carcinoma and Hodgkin lymphoma associated with Epstein-Barr virus. A 17-year-old previously healthy African-American male presented with anterior mediastinal mass and a nasopharyngeal mass.

Comprehensive analysis of the anterolateral thigh flap vascular anatomy.

Objective: The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap has become a frequently used free flap for head and neck reconstruction. Widespread use has been based on literature of ALT flap thickness performed primarily in Asian populations. To our knowledge, to date there has not been a comprehensive analysis of the anthropomorphic parameters of this flap in the Western population, in which it is often much thicker, thereby potentially limiting its utility.

Tumor volume as a prognostic factor in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma treated with primary radiotherapy.

Objectives/hypothesis: Tumor volume has been demonstrated to play a prognostic role in many head and neck cancers. The purpose of this study was to conduct an institutional review analyzing the correlation between tumor volume and locoregional control of oropharyngeal squamous cell cancer treated with primary radiotherapy.

Study Design: Retrospective institutional chart analysis.
