Introduction: We used cognitive load theory to design the Queen's University Airway Mastery (QUMAC) pilot course to work toward reliable mastery of Emergency Airways Management elements in all participants.
Methods: We describe the process of designing QUMAC using 4-Component Instructional Design to harness the cognitive load theory as a learning tool. We evaluated the effectiveness of QUMAC using an outcome-based mixed-methods approach including Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills (OSATS) and 2 Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) at course completion using blinded expert video review.
The adenosylcobalamin (AdoCbl)-dependent enzyme ethanolamine ammonia-lyase (EAL) catalyzes the conversion of ethanolamine to acetaldehyde and ammonia. As is the case for all AdoCbl-dependent isomerases, the catalytic cycle of EAL is initiated by homolytic cleavage of the cofactor's Co-C bond, producing Cocobalamin (CoCbl) and an adenosyl radical that serves to abstract a hydrogen atom from the substrate. Remarkably, in the presence of substrate, the rate of Co-C bond homolysis of enzyme-bound AdoCbl is increased by 12 orders of magnitude.

While the classical definition of epilepsy was due to the imbalance between excitatory glutamatergic and inhibitory γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-ergic signalling, substantial evidence implicates muscarinic receptors in the regulation of neural excitability.
Summary: Cannabinoids have shown to reduce seizure activity and neuronal excitability in several epileptic models through the activation of muscarinic receptors with drugs which modulate their activity.
Background: Metabolic comorbidities such as diabetes and obesity are considered pro-inflammatory states which theoretically increase the risk of perioperative thrombotic events across many surgical disciplines. Currently, there is a paucity of objective metrics to determine such risk and ideal pharmacologic targets. Thromboelastography with Platelet Mapping (TEG-PM) provides a comprehensive profile of coagulation and may provide insight into clot dysregulation.

Methods: Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, a literature review was conducted using PubMed databases.
Background: Despite recent approvals of lifesaving treatments for chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), real-world data on the tolerability of the Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor ibrutinib for CLL treatment are lacking, especially in Black patients.
Objective: To expand upon a previously reported retrospective chart review of ibrutinib-treated patients with CLL to increase the number of sites and the enrollment period in first-line (1L) and relapsed/refractory (R/R) settings with a subanalysis based on ethnicity.
Patients And Methods: Adults with CLL who initiated ibrutinib treatment from five centers were followed for ≥ 6 months.

Here, we review the accuracy of COI disclosures for studies related to the use of robotic technology in cardiothoracic surgery and evaluate factors associated with increased discrepancies.
Methods: A literature search identified robotic surgery-related studies with at least 1 American author published between January 2015 and December 2020 from 3 major American cardiothoracic surgery journals (The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, and Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery).
Background: Both clopidogrel and atorvastatin metabolism are rooted in hepatic cytochrome p450 activation. There are published reports of atorvastatin interfering with clopidogrel metabolism by inhibiting the activation of clopidogrel. This in turn would decrease the therapeutic effect of clopidogrel potentially resulting in an increase in thrombotic events in patients who are taking both medications.

Publications were specific for human randomized controlled clinical trials, PBM after dental extraction therapy, and related clinical outcomes.
