[Pathomorphological features of chronic toxic osteomyelitis in drug addicts taking amphetamine of a street drugs brand].

In the article the authors present the pathological features of chronic toxic osteomyelitis in drug addicts taking amphetamine of handicraft production (pervitin, vint). It is shown that this pathology is characterized by the predominance of marked degenerative, necrotic and inflammatory changes over the reparative processes.

[The clinical picture and treatment of a positional compression syndrome of the neck and lower portions of the face].

Six patients with positional compression (PC) of the neck and lower third of the face are described. This condition, virtually never described in maxillofacial surgery, was caused by forced posture of a patient sleeping after alcoholic intoxication. Characteristic clinical signs of PC syndrome are described in patients with different duration and severity of the process.

[The role of adaptation to new medicogeographical conditions in mandibular fractures].

Analysis of published date and his own findings in the course of follow-up of 658 patients with mandibular fractures, who lived under novel for them climatic and geographic conditions for various periods (up to 1 year, 1 to 3 years, 3 to 5 years, permanently) brought the author to a conclusion on the contribution of adaptation processes to the course of healing. Some characteristics of protein and mineral metabolism were tested over the course of healing; for objective assessment, the "desirability" function was used, and indexes based on this function suggested: inflammatory reaction index, metabolic index, regeneration index. Typical changes in the pattern of metabolism and relationship between the incidence of complications and adaptation period were revealed.

[Reparative osteogenesis during the treatment of mandibular fractures under different medical geographic conditions].

A comparative analysis of the course of repair osteogenesis in patients with mandibular fractures living in the Amur and Ivano-Frankovsk regions was carried out. Protein and mineral metabolism, hemogram patterns, types and incidence of complications were under study. Indexes based on the "desirability function" were used to assess the metabolic, repair, and inflammatory processes.

[The treatment of patients with mandibular fractures in the angle area using an intraoral monomaxillary device].

Indication for and the technique of applying an oral monomaxillary device to the treatment of mandibular fractures in the corner are described. This device was effectively used in the treatment of 27 patients. The technique of the device application is simple and non-traumatic, it permits an early start of functional physiologic treatment.
