Background: In the context of the present global aging phenomenon, the senior population and pace of aging in China have emerged as prominent issues on the worldwide stage. Frailty, a complicated condition that is closely linked to the clinical syndrome of advancing age, poses a considerable health risk to older individuals. Frailty status was assessed by the frailty index (FI) ranging from 0 to 1, pre-frailty was defined as >0.

The Guerbet reaction is important for the synthesis of longer-chain monoalcohols like isobutanol through catalytic transfer hydrogenation from short-chain methanol and ethanol. However, the mechanism becomes complicated, especially considering the variations in the different metal-ligand cooperation (MLC) catalysts used. In order to further understand the Guerbet reaction, DFT studies were performed to figure out the detailed mechanism initiated by the unique Mn-PCP MLC Catalyst.

Objectives: Older people are more likely to have digital exclusion, which is associated with poor health. This study investigated the relationship between digital exclusion and cognitive impairment in older adults from 23 countries across five longitudinal surveys.

Design And Measurements: Digital exclusion is defined as self-reported non-use of the Internet.

The microstructure, corrosion resistance, and phase-transition process of micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coatings prepared on LaFeSi alloy surfaces in different electrolyte systems were systematically investigated. Research has demonstrated that various electrolyte systems do not alter the main components of the coatings. However, the synergistic action of NaCO and NaBO more effectively modulated the ionization and chemical reactions of the MAO process and accelerated the formation of -AlO.

Osteosarcopenia is defined as the concurrent occurrence of osteopenia/osteoporosis and sarcopenia. The aim of the current study was to perform a systematic review with meta-analysis to determine the global prevalence, risk factors and clinical outcomes of osteosarcopenia. This review was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42022351229).

Article Synopsis
  • This study highlights the increasing risk of cognitive impairment or dementia in patients who have experienced acute kidney injury (AKI), indicating an urgent need for further investigation in this area.
  • A meta-analysis of seven studies involving 423,876 patients revealed a significant connection between AKI and cognitive decline, with a higher risk observed in international studies compared to domestic ones.
  • The findings suggest that early interventions could help mitigate cognitive impairment in AKI patients, emphasizing the importance of monitoring and addressing cognitive health in these individuals.

Background: Sarcopenia is thought to be strongly associated with heart failure, but meta-analyses with sufficient samples are still lacking to accurately address its clinical situation.

Hypothesis: Sarcopenia has a high prevalence in patients with heart failure and is closely related to adverse clinical outcomes.

Methods: Relevant databases were systematically searched in October 2021 and updated in July 2022.
