Aristolochic acid nephropathy (AAN) is a rapidly progressive kidney disease caused by medical or environmental exposure to aristolochic acids (AAs). This study aimed to identify serum metabolites associated with the severity of acute AAN and investigate the underlying mechanisms. Male C57BL/6 mice were treated with vehicle and 3 doses of aristolochic acid I (AAI) (1.

Aristolochic acid nephropathy (AAN) is a kidney injury syndrome caused by aristolochic acids exposure. Our study used label-free quantitative proteomics to delineate renal protein profiles and identify key proteins after exposure to different doses of aristolochic acid I (AAI). Male C57BL/6 mice received AAI (1.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) induced by cisplatin remains a major impediment to the clinical application of cisplatin, necessitating urgent exploration for promising solutions. Huangqi-Danshen decoction (HDD), a Chinese herbal preparation, has been shown by our group to have a reno-protective effect in adenine-induced chronic kidney disease mice and diabetic mice. However, the effect of HDD on cisplatin-induced AKI and its underlying mechanisms are unknown.

Background: The need for pain management is increasing in pediatrics, but the side effects of overuse or abuse of analgesics can be harmful to children's health and even life-threatening in severe cases.

Methods: Patients who underwent resection of Meckel's diverticulum at the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from July 1, 2019, to July 1, 2022, were included in this study. Opioids were administered through patient-controlled analgesia (PCA).

Unlabelled: Intussusception is a common cause of acute abdominal pain in children and the most frequent cause of intestinal obstruction in infants. Although often idiopathic, it can stem from conditions like lymphoma. This study delves into lymphoma-related intussusception in children, aiming to enhance early detection and management.

Huangqi-Danshen decoction (HDD), a Chinese herbal preparation, is effective in clinical treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the underlying mechanism remains to be clarified. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of HDD in the regulation of renal glucose metabolism in a CKD mouse model.

Population aging has become a major challenge for the Chinese government. Based on the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) in 2018, this study adopts the propensity score matching (PSM) method to assess the effect of community home-based elderly care services (CHECS) on the life satisfaction of the elderly in China. The results demonstrate that CHECS can improve their life satisfaction.

Honokiol (HKL), a biphenolic compound, is derived from the bark of , which is used in traditional Chinese medicine for gastrointestinal complaints. HKL has diverse pharmacological activities and has protective effects in various disease models. However, the role and mechanism of HKL in treating chronic kidney disease (CKD) remain unclear.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an important complementary and alternative branch of chronic kidney disease (CKD) therapy. Jian-Pi-Yi-Shen formula (JPYSF) is a TCM formula used for treating CKD with good efficacy. However, the underlying mechanisms of JPYSF in treating CKD remain to be elucidated.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health problem worldwide. Treatment with renin-angiotensin system inhibitors can achieve only partial efficacy on renal function decline and renal fibrosis in CKD patients. Huangqi-Danshen decoction (HDD) is a basic Chinese herbal pair which is commonly used to treat CKD with good efficacy.

Article Synopsis
  • - Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant global health issue, and while renin-angiotensin system (RAS) blockade is a common treatment, it has limitations.
  • - The study examined the combined effects of perindopril erbumine (PE) and Jian-Pi-Yi-Shen formula (JPYSF), a traditional herbal treatment, on CKD in rats, finding that their combination led to improved renal function and reduced kidney damage.
  • - This enhanced protection from CKD is linked to increased expression of sirtuin 3 (SIRT3), better mitochondrial function, and reduced oxidative stress, suggesting a more effective treatment strategy using both PE and JPYSF.

The thermoplastic poly(propylene carbonate) (PPC) containing cross-linked networks was one-pot synthesized by copolymerization of carbon dioxide, propylene oxide (PO), maleic anhydride (MA), and furfuryl glycidyl ether (FGE). The copolymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) measurements. The thermal and dimensional stability of the copolymers were improved.
