Obesity, characterized by excessive body fat accumulation due to energy metabolism imbalance, has emerged as a significant risk factor for male infertility. Icariin (ICA), a principal constituent of Epimedium, has demonstrated potential in improving obesity and enhancing testicular spermatogenesis. This study aimed to elucidate the role and underlying mechanisms of ICA in mitigating obesity-induced male infertility through the suppression of inflammation and insulin resistance.

Changes in soil aggregate stability and aggregate-associated carbon under different slope positions in a karst region of Southwest China.

Soil aggregates are crucial for reducing soil erosion and enhancing soil organic carbon sequestration. However, knowledge regarding influences of different slope positions on compositions and carbon content for different soil aggregates is limited. Soil samples were collected from various slope positions including dip slope, anti-dip slope and valley depression in the Longtan karst valley of Southwest China.

Background: As life expectancy increases, cognitive performance decline in the elderly has become one of the major global challenges. We aimed to evaluate the association of dietary vitamin D (VD), serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D), 25-hydroxyvitamin D2 (25(OH)D), and total 25-hydroxyvitamin (25(OH)D) concentration with cognitive performance in older Americans.

Methods: The data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 2011-2014 was used.

Multiclass retinal disease classification and lesion segmentation in OCT B-scan images using cascaded convolutional networks.

Disease classification and lesion segmentation of retinal optical coherence tomography images play important roles in ophthalmic computer-aided diagnosis. However, existing methods achieve the two tasks separately, which is insufficient for clinical application and ignores the internal relation of disease and lesion features. In this paper, a framework of cascaded convolutional networks is proposed to jointly classify retinal diseases and segment lesions.
