Energy harvesting from mechanical vibration of buildings is usually realized by the use of devices, in which the main element is a prismatic beam with a rectangular cross-section. The beam has been the subject of scientific research; it is usually constructed with a carrying substrate that does not have piezoelectric characteristics and from piezoelectric material. In contrast, this investigation sought to create a beam structure with a piezoelectric composite only.

The neural plasticity underlying language learning is a process rather than a single event. However, the dynamics of training-induced brain reorganization have rarely been examined, especially using a multimodal magnetic resonance imaging approach, which allows us to study the relationship between functional and structural changes. We focus on sign language acquisition in hearing adults who underwent an 8-month long course and five neuroimaging sessions.

The increased risk of atherosclerosis in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with the increased concentration of fatty acids from the omega-6 family. Products of arachidonic acid oxidation, including prostaglandins, thromboxanes, hydroxyleicosa-tetraenoic acids (HETES) and hydroxyoctadecadienoic acids (HODES) are involved in the pathogenesis of cancer and cardiovascular diseases due to increased oxidative stress. The aim of our study was to determine the relations resulting from the duration of CKD treatment.

Hybrid polyacrylate-silicate hydrogels were obtained in the presence of ,'-methylenebisacrylamide (NNMBA) as the cross-linking monomer and sodium thiosulphate/potassium persulphate (NTS/KPS) as the redox initiators. The results of the tests allowed us to conclude that a hybrid structure with a polyacrylate scaffolding and a silicate matrix had been obtained. The results of the rheological analysis revealed that the hydrogel sample with a 1:7 mass ratio of sodium water glass to the sodium polyacrylate is characterized by the highest complex viscosity.

Sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of malignancies with mesenchymal lineage differentiation. The discovery of neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase (NTRK) gene fusions as tissue-agnostic oncogenic drivers has led to new personalized therapies for a subset of patients with sarcoma in the form of tropomyosin receptor kinase (TRK) inhibitors. NTRK gene rearrangements and fusion transcripts can be detected with different molecular pathology techniques, while TRK protein expression can be demonstrated with immunohistochemistry.

Introduction: Angiosarcomas constitute approximately 2% to 3% of all soft tissue sarcomas, are characterised by an aggressive clinical behaviour and poor outcome. Optimal management of localised angiosarcomas consists of complete surgical resection with or without radiation. However, due to the infiltrating nature of this disease, complete resection is often not possible.

Introduction: The real-world data on adjuvant imatinib therapy in high-risk primary GIST are scarce.

Methods: We have analysed the data of 107 consecutive patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) after resection treated with adjuvant imatinib (for planned 3 years with initial dose 400 mg daily, started not later than 4 months after operation) in 6 oncological centres in 2013-2018. All patients were required to have high risk of recurrence (at least 50% according to NCCN/AFIP criteria), known mutational status to exclude PDGFRA D842V mutants and KIT/PDGFRA-wild type cases from therapy without any further selection.
