The role of psychological formulation in inpatient settings in supporting staff empathy and therapeutic optimism for adults diagnosed with borderline personality disorder: A pre- and post-vignette study.

Unlabelled: WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT?: Psychological formulation brings together a service user story and expertise, with psychological knowledge, research, and practitioners clinical experience to make sense of a service users' presentation (thinking about their difficulties but also strengths). Evidence into the effectiveness of formulation is largely anecdotal, qualitative, or small scale. Although this is very valuable research, there is not a lot of research which quantitatively evidences the role of formulation for service users or services.

The Troyer syndrome protein spartin mediates selective autophagy of lipid droplets.

Lipid droplets (LDs) are crucial organelles for energy storage and lipid homeostasis. Autophagy of LDs is an important pathway for their catabolism, but the molecular mechanisms mediating LD degradation by selective autophagy (lipophagy) are unknown. Here we identify spartin as a receptor localizing to LDs and interacting with core autophagy machinery, and we show that spartin is required to deliver LDs to lysosomes for triglyceride mobilization.

Deficiency of the frontotemporal dementia gene GRN results in gangliosidosis.

Haploinsufficiency of GRN causes frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The GRN locus produces progranulin (PGRN), which is cleaved to lysosomal granulin polypeptides. The function of lysosomal granulins and why their absence causes neurodegeneration are unclear.

Exploring how support workers understand their role in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities to access the Internet for intimate relationships.

Background: Some adults with intellectual disabilities need support to access the Internet. This study explores how support workers understand their role in facilitating Internet access for intimate relationships.

Method: Eight support workers in the West Midlands of the UK were interviewed face-to-face, using semi-structured interviews and a thematic analysis was used to interpret the data.

Regional survey supports national initiative for 'water-only' schools in New Zealand.

Objective: To support a national initiative to remove sugary drinks from schools and limit drinks to water or unflavoured milk ('water-only').

Methods: We emailed all 201 schools with primary school aged children in the Greater Wellington region with a survey on (1) current status of, (2) support needs for, and (3) barriers to or lessons learned from, a 'water-only' school policy.

Results: Only 78 (39%) of schools responded.

Tackling health inequalities: moving theory to action.

Background: This paper reports on health inequalities awareness-raising workshops conducted with senior New Zealand health sector staff as part of the Government's goal of reducing inequalities in health, education, employment and housing.

Methods: The workshops were based on a multi-method needs assessment with senior staff in key health institutions. The workshops aimed to increase the knowledge and skills of health sector staff to act on, and advocate for, eliminating inequalities in health.
